No More Football Huh? What’s Next?

February 12, 2010

The football season has come to an end after once again another entertaining finish. The Saints pulled it off and I’m pretty sure beads are still falling on Bourbon Street. Hats off to the franchise and the city for a well deserved victory. As far as the Colts, I have no sympathy. I can’t say I have ever been a Colts fan but I lost true respect for the organization and the rookie head coach when they decided that a perfect season is just not a top priority. Pulling their starters week 16 against the Jets with only a 5 point lead to sacrifice a 23 game win streak along with the road to perfection in my opinion seized some internal motivation from their Super Bowl performance. Don’t get me wrong, the Colts played their hearts out and left it all on the field but something tells me that if they entered that game 17-0 results may have differed. But we’ll never know will we.

So football is over, so what’s next sports fans. The Winter Olympics of course. For those of you who say, “meh, that’s not really my thing” make it your thing. Take some pride in your country and get excited about a kid named the Flying Tomato(Shaun White) soaring double cork 1080′s out of a halfpipe, or Apollo Anton Ohno leavin foreign speed skaters in the dust. Share the blood and tears these athletes have poured out to put another medal on the United States resume. What else you gonna do, tune into the NBA All-Star weekend? Kobe’s not playing and Lebron backed out of the dunk contest. I will say rookie Brandon Jennings deserves an eye ball or two during the skills contest and little Nate Robinson should be fun to watch elevate for a third slam dunk title.

The football season is over but don’t let depression set in yet because we got plenty of sports entertainment on the way. Tune into the Olympics, catch an NBA facial or two, then subtly prepare for that event that never disappoints: MARCH MADNESS
