Living in today’s world of digital innovations and technological freedom has sparked a new wave of creativity followed by corporate controversy within online publications. It is this new wave of creativity that must be embraced and protected. Copyright law needs to adjust to this fresh digital age and realize what new form of art is being created while the corporate “hierarchy” lowers its fists a little bit. So what am I suggesting? Well, the concept of Fair Use has to be stretched a little bit. Artists/authors deserve the freedom of reproducing creative work from original publications while shelling out legitimate credit.  Reproducing in a creative way and shelling out legitimate credibility is what is key.  I, by no means, take the side of someone who uses someone else’s work without putting their own flavor on it and claims ownership. That’s wrong and I’m sure majority of the world agrees. If the artist takes an original publication, put his own spin on it, and still credits the original artist then this must be embraced. This creative uproar is not going to stop so it is necessary to support it or it will just show up in alternative places. Quoting the book Remix, author Lawrence Lessig could not have stated it better.  “We, as a society, can’t kill this new form of creativity. We can only criminalize it. We can’t stop our kids from using the technologies we give them to remix the culture around them. We can only drive that remix underground.”
